Scotiabank Joins Forces with Habitat for Humanity

The Scotiabank-Habitat partnership is part of a larger, ongoing effort by the financial institution to invest in youth. In the past, they have partnered with other organizations to host educational workshops and seminars on financial literacy.

The most recent project is a collaboration between Scotiabank and Habitat for Humanity that provides disadvantaged young people with the chance to develop carpentry skills and gain access to an apprenticeship program. The partnership also provides program participants with mentorship and job-readiness training.

Through the carpentry programme, Scotiabank is intensifying its investment into developing a more diverse and highly skilled workforce. By partnering with Habitat for Humanity, Scotiabank is committing to creating employment opportunities for youth who are currently facing barriers to accessing them.

The partnership will not only provide participants with the essential skills necessary to pursue a career in carpentry, but also promote responsible community building. Through this partnership, the organizations will work together to build safe, decent, and affordable housing.

Scotiabank's Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Gayle Pazos, said: "We are proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity to provide our youth with access to the education and support they need to become successful in the trades, and to make a positive difference within their local communities."

Through this partnership, Scotiabank and Habitat for Humanity are setting an example for businesses to follow when engaging with their communities. By investing in the development of its citizens, the company is helping to provide pathways to success for a new generation of skilled individuals and strengthen local economies.

As Habitat for Humanity celebrates its 40th anniversary after building over 500,000 homes since its inception, the Scotiabank partnership is set to play a role in increasing this number even further.

This unique collaboration between the two organizations is set to make a significant impact on the lives of disadvantaged young people across Trinidad and Tobago, as well as give them the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities. By investing in local communities, Scotiabank is equipping the next generation with the tools they need to thrive in the 21st century economy.
