Redmi Note 8 users around the globe are going to be disappointed by the latest MIUI 12-related messages issuing from Xiaomi HQ. While there seemed to be a few signs pointing to an October update for users of the Global or Indian Redmi Note 8, it now appears to be more likely that nothing will arrive before November.

Exasperation must be setting in with owners of the Redmi Note 8 at the moment when it comes to news of the much-anticipated MIUI 12 update. Recent rumblings had given the idea that October was going to be the month that Redmi Note 8 users finally received notifications on their smartphones for the MIUI 12 installation, but a message from a mod over at the Xiaomi community forums has poured cold water on that idea.

When asked, plainly and simply, when MIUI 12 would be rolled out to the wider public for the Redmi Note 8, a forum moderator replied with “seems like in a month if everything goes well”. So not only does that comment give a sort of mid-November ETA for Redmi Note 8 MIUI 12, but it also adds a handy disclaimer that could lead to even more waiting should bugs and glitches further hinder the roll-out process.

The official MIUI 12 Global ROM update thread at the Mi Community forums simply offers blank spaces for the status of the Redmi Note 8 (Global/India/Indonesia) and Redmi Note 8T (Global/Europe/Russia). The Redmi Note 9 has received MIUI 12, either in a full or partial status depending on the region, so perhaps Redmi Note 8 owners can take heart from that…or just settle in for a potential 2021 timeframe and hope for the best in the meantime.
