Intel unexpectedly brought back one of its own to lead the business on Wednesday, naming Pat Gelsinger, its former chief technology officer and current VMware chief executive, as its newest CEO.Gelsinger will take over on February 15, substituting Bob Swan, Intel’s former chief financial officer that had transitioned to a full-time job as chief executive following former CEO Brian Krzanich resigned 2018.
