The OnePlus 7 and 7T series will begin receiving Android 11 and OxygenOS 11 from December, according to a company spokesperson. It is unclear whether these will be beta or stable builds, but the likes of the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T Pro will at least get a taste of Android 11 before the year is out.
OnePlus will begin rolling out Android 11 to the OnePlus 7 and 7T series from December, according to Android Authority. The website claims to have received the information from a OnePlus spokesperson, who confirmed the company’s upgrade plans for OxygenOS 11.
We suspect that OnePlus has informed Android Authority of its plans to bring Android 11 to the OnePlus 7 and 7T series because of a statement made by a moderator of the OnePlus Forums. Writing last week, the moderator stated that it would be 2021 before the OnePlus 7 series received OxygenOS 11 and, by extension, Android 11.
One thing that has not been made clear what version of Android 11 will reach the OnePlus 7, 7T, 7 Pro and 7T Pro in December. Android Authority has made clear that the devices ‘will see Android 11 in December 2020’, but not that stable updates will be rolling out by then.
Typically, OnePlus runs Open Beta programs for OS updates, which we would expect it to repeat for Android 11 and the OnePlus 7/7T series. If that is the case this time, then we should expect Open Betas to arrive at least a month before the arrival of stable builds. Alternatively, the OnePlus 7/7T series could receive Android 11 in December 2020 and early 2021 – Open Betas in December and stable builds from next year.
