May 14 (UPI) — The man arrested for killing 10 people and injuring three others in what authorities have called a “racially motivated” mass shooting in Buffalo, New York, has been arraigned in a court and charged with murder.
Payton Genedron, 18, appeared in court before Judge Craig Hannah for less than five minutes Saturday night. This was hours after the shooting.
He was released without bail after pleading not guilty. He was seen in a paper gown while he explained his charges to the judge .
Gendron surrendered Saturday to police after storming Tops grocery store in tactical gear. The attack was live-streamed on Twitch.
Buffalo Police Chief Joseph Gramaglia stated during a press conference on Saturday that 11 of all the 13 victims were Black.
Pages taken from a manifesto Gendron are believed to have been written before the mass shooting. They have been circulated online.
