LATEST May 13, 1: 15 p.m. The San Francisco Fire Department said that seven people were injured in a fire in an apartment complex in the city’s Western Addition neighborhood on Friday. Five of the victims were taken to hospital.

The fire that broke out after 10 a.m. displaced 18 people, the department said.

The fire department originally said the fire started at 1355 Ellis. It later corrected the address to 10 Inca Lane.

Teachers from the nearby Rosa Parks Elementary School ran into the burning building and rescued several older residents, the San Francisco Unified School District said in a message on Twitter.

Video footage of the fire shared on Twitter showed the building engulfed in flames.

May 13, 11 a.m. More than 60 firefighters were on the scene of a fire that broke out inside a building at 1355 Ellis in San Francisco’s Fillmore District, officials said.

Lt. Jonathan Baxter spoke on behalf of the fire department and said that four people were saved from the flames, with one in critical condition. Baxter stated that firefighters are looking for more people in the building.

The fire broke out in the three-story residential apartment complex just after 10 a.m.

“It’s still an active fire at this time on the second and third floors,” Baxter told SFGATE at 11 a.m. “At this time, it doesn’t look like it has spread to other buildings. “

The fire department is asking the public to avoid the area.
