With iOS 14.5, Siri supports calling emergency connections. All you have to do is say,”Siri, call my emergency contact” and it’ll know to call whoever you have assigned the title. The feature works if you’re in need of support or somebody else is.
But in order for it to work correctly, you’ll have to make sure both your emergency contacts are upgraded and Siri is enabled in your iPhone.
Here’s how to set up crisis phoning with Siri at a few simple actions.
1) Set your emergency contact
In order for Siri to call an emergency contact, you are going to have to designate someone first. First, visit the Health app and tap on the profile icon at the right-hand corner. Then, tap on Medical ID, the Edit button, and scroll down to Emergency Contacts.
Once you tap on the green plus sign icon to include an emergency contact, you are able to scroll through your contact list or look for a specific individual. You’ll then be asked to specify your connection to that individual. Then tap on Done and your contacts will be stored.
You can also get into your emergency contacts by going to Settings > Emergency SOS > Emergency Contacts > Edit Emergency Contacts in Health.
Whenever you use Emergency SOS on your iPhone, your emergency contacts will be given a message telling them that you called emergency services along with your current location.
2) Check your Siri settings
You should also make sure Siri is up and running. Proceed to Settings > Siri & Search and toggle on Listen for”Hey Siri,””Press Side Button for Siri,” and”Allow Siri When Locked.” That way, in case there is an emergency, you (or whoever is helping at the time), will have tons of ways to get into the voice assistant.
3) Say “Siri, call my emergency contact”
Once both your emergency contacts and Siri are set up, the attribute is not difficult to use. In case you’re ever in misery, all you need to say is”Hey Siri, call my emergency contact.” The attribute works for people who are in need of help too — if someone else is unconscious, anybody around them is able to use their phone and the exact same Siri control to put the phone for them.
